My Story

I'm Deanna a Invisible Bead Extensions Master Educator + Platform Artist, the team lead & owner of the Refinery Salon & Co.

A speciality artist herself, Deanna is all too familiar with the struggle of having options available to support growth as a luxury stylist. While opening her boutique luxury salon in Downtown Cedar Rapids felt like the only option to upgrade beyond studio rental, Deanna knew this daunting task wasn't a feasible reality for many stylists. She was called to create a space for other independent artists to be able to thrive and enjoy the career of their dreams, prioritizing both an elevated guest experience AND their own health and prosperity.

I've been hair artist for 20 years and in the last 5+ years a salon owner, I specialize in Invisible Bead Hand Tied extensions and I also hold certifications in several other hair extensions methods. Jacques Dessange french cutting technique, lived in color, blondes, balayage, and long hair styling are also a few of my specialties. I often travel for advanced education especially in the winter months. I enjoy going to Utah, Arizona and Southern California for most of my classes and where I most of my hair color inspirations and techniques. Im a sucker for a effortless lived-in color not too over done and always timeless.

22+ years into this business, I couldn't imagine myself in any other career.

I have a 19 year old son, who like most young men in college he has a busy life and I take every moment I can to hang out with him, we travel to see him play in football games, and right now are living the empty nesters life.
